LAKEFRONT Boathouse
This beautiful west coast boathouse needed design elements that would work with the property’s challenging slopes. We wanted to take full advantage of the outdoor spaces for entertaining and relaxing, while ensuring the design would complement the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Garden Oasis
This small space was transformed into an oasis by utilizing design elements reminiscent of an Asian garden.
waterfront paradise
Shoreline rehabilitation was the starting point of an extensive site works to shape and integrate various landscape forms and features into the site. The rehabilitation process included removal of old remnants from a previous marina and adding 650 tonnes of granite and limestone boulders to the shoreline. Limestone stairs were then placed into the hill to gain access to the boathouse patio and residence above.
Due to the extreme grades, a special stormwater management system was designed. This circulated into a meandering alpine style waterfall. The falls were constructed as a central feature to the site and can be viewed from most vantage points on the property.
Wilderness Retreat
The central theme for this wilderness retreat was permaculture. The client was looking to work with the land’s ecosystem to grow and harvest a range of native and sustainable plantings. By harvesting and augmenting their food supply, they could practice their culinary creative from the kitchen and entertain from their natural rock patio.
We identified a number of natural elements throughout the large wilderness property that could be retained, conserved, and accentuated including utilizing fallen trees for seating as well as interest focal points.
